| dc.description.abstract | Drug and substance abuse has been talked about worldwide as a menace, and Kenya being part of the globe, experiences its effects. The Church, being the tool that helps the society live godly lives to the highest possible extent; should take part in the fight against drug and substance abuse. This study, therefore, aimed at identifying the role of the Church in curbing the drug addiction problems. To achieve this, the researcher sought: to determine the drug addiction prevention programs run by the Church; the extent to which financial resources to assist or prevent drug addiction were appropriated by the Church; to determine the involvement of churches in advocacy of policies that aid in drug addiction management, and, to identify if and to what extent the Church partners with other drug addiction rehabilitation and prevention programs. The researcher used case study research design, and quantitative research approach. This was be done by using Nairobi Chapel as a case study. The target population totalled 50 churches under the Nairobi Chapel umbrella of Churches. Through questionnaires, the researcher sought to collect data from lead pastors or pastors in charge of drug addicts’ recovery programs within Nairobi Chapel umbrella of churches. The researcher then analysed the data that had been collected and presented it using tables and graphs. Moreover, the researcher has also given recommendations that the church can implement so as to improve its approach in helping curd the addiction problem. | |
