    Youth perception on the effectiveness of the youth ministry at Destiny Worship Centre Lang'ata in their spiritual nurture

    The study explored the Youth perception on the effectiveness of the Youth Ministry at Destiny Worship Centre Church Langata. The data was collected through face- to -face semi-structured interviews with seven participants, and were recorded and transcribed. Observation was also done in two of the youth meetings and activities. The findings revealed that there was less effectiveness in the youth ministry at Destiny Worship Centre Langata, pointing to the activities, programmes and ways the youth ministry is conducted. The study further affirmed that youth need a variant of holistic approach and strategies to be able to attain spiritual growth and nurture in a given setting. A model of interrelationships between various activities and programs was advanced and recommendations made to the youth, the church, youth leaders, and other concerned persons on the best way to make the program effective to nurturing the youth in their spiritual life. This would lead the youth to evaluate their growth and invoke a closer relationship with God.

    Parents' involvement in the spiritual nurture of their children:a study of parents at Good Samaritan Africa Gospel Church

    This was a descriptive study which sought to investigate the extent to which parents in Good Samaritan Africa Gospel Church are involved in spiritual nurture of their children. The research further investigated the challenges faced by parents as they attempt to perform spiritual nurture. This study was expected to throw light into the performance of parents and the challenges they face so that the Christian educators and leadership of the church may be able to know, help and guide the parents in the spiritual nurture of their children. Data was collected by use of self-administered questionnaires, which had both open and closed-ended questions. Two knowledgeable persons in the field of educational research tested the instrument for content validity after which a pilot testing was carried out at Karinde Free Methodist Church. Then the questionnaires were distributed to thirty parents. The collected data was analysed statistically and three null hypotheses were tested using the Chi-square test of independence at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that generally parents at Good Samaritan Africa Gospel Church are involved in spiritual nurture of their children regardless of gender, marital status and ages of the children. It was therefore recommended that further research be carried out to find out the children's perception of the spiritual nurture they obtain from their parents and its impact on their lives.

    Spiritual nurture for the hearing impaired :implication for Christian education in the church

    The purpose of this grounded theory study was to develop theory about meeting spiritual nurture needs of the hearing impaired. Two congregations of the hearing impaired in Nairobi were used. The study incorporated interviews with ten members of the two congregations under study as well as several site observations. Three video documentaries were also used. A three-element phenomenon was ascertained. The first was studying the culture of the Deaf Community to be familiar with it, accept the deaf in their culture and be sensitive to it as one endeavors to nurture the deaf spiritually. The second element was communication issues. The deaf only communicate effectively in their local sign language. Sign language could also be supplemented with interpretation, lip reading, and the written page. The communication of the Christian message in the deaf language led to spiritual growth. The third element was deaf fellowships which participants included deaf churches, children and youth fellowships, school ministry and other deaf forums in which the deaf met for spiritual nurture. The deaf fellowships required deaf leadership in form of deaf pastors, evangelists and other deaf church workers. This ensured conducting of spiritual nurture programs in the deaf language and culture. A visual model of the entire process of meeting spiritual nurture needs was advanced. Suggestions were made to facilitate meeting of spiritual nurture needs of the hearing impaired.
